In order to vote for BalletForMen.com as one of the Top Dance Blogs of 2010, please leave a comment on this post below. It is quite simple, just something to say that you believe this is one of the best ballet blogs of 2010. Thank you.
Dance Advantage is a great dance site, running a little healthy competition. You know I always talk about community over competition, but I think this competition helps to build and call attention to a community. There are a lot of great sites out there about ballet. I’m excited to see some of my favorites get recognition. I’m also excited to perhaps see some new ones that I have not come across.
I think this is a good place to perhaps review some of what Ballet For Men has done in 2010.
Over 2010 Ballet For Men has contributed:
- Numerous inspiring posts and discussions
- Several excellent podcast interviews (more to come 2011)
- Free Ballet Apparel for Men e-book (top resource for men)
- Published Ballet Apparel for Men (available on Amazon or in bookstores)
- Created cool t-shirts for guy dancers (and girl’s who want to support guys)
Whenever I receive a comment that in any way reflects that I helped push someone toward trying a ballet class, or makes them feel better about continuing, I feel great. It really keeps me going.
I’m also very proud of some of the work that I have done behind the scenes on some other sites. I’m not allowed to mention sites here, because some of them are competing as well, but I was fortunate enough to help create some amazing sites that are entirely run by some amazing dancers, writers, and thinkers. I like to believe that Ballet For Men has helped not only male dancers, but the entire online dance community. I hope to do even more in 2011 though! Ha Ha.
Thanks to Nichelle at Dance Advantage for setting up this contest. I think it is a great way to get bloggers to consider the achievements over 2010, as well as get some well deserved recognition!
Thanks for voting and supporting.

This has been one of the best resources for me as I start ballet at the grand old age of 55 having never danced before in my life.
This has been a good site for information and tips for men and boys, that want to start doing ballet, or improving technique. If you have a question they can answer it, or knows someone that can. Keep up the good work.
I had never been to visit this site before, thinking, ‘oh, it’s for men, there won’t be anything there for me.’ So wrong! Had no idea that you started as an adult beginner too, dealt with flexibility and all that beginner-y stuff. So glad you entered the competition, a vote for you!
Without this site I would never have started Ballet so of course you have my vote! Not only that, but without your encouragement and support, I would never have started my own site, so I’m doubly appreciative.
Keep up the good work David!
David
You know how much I love your site–you’ve got my vote!

Yay David I hope you get it!!
Hi David,
Good luck, you have a vote from us! Best, E&L
The advice on this website is found nowhere else. Great job, David!
Of course you’ve got my vote. I’m a guy who began a few years ago at 25 years old, and you’ve been great in answering the few questions I’ve sent. I usually only listen to podcasts when I’m running or cycling or something, but when I get a new BfM podcast I plug in and listen to it right away. Thanks again for a great resource!
This site gets my vote because the guy-voice and cool graphics expand the circle of who might feel at home talking about dance! Dance is an opportunity to be powerful and expressive. After teaching creative dance to young kids, I have seen a LOT of people see the benefits of dance for everyone, but I saw a lot of habitual attitudes keeping it out of reach for guys. I’m cheering on Ballet for Men!!
This site allows guys to find their voice in the highly feminised world of ballet. Kudos to David for enlightening all of us. You have my vote.
I really love this blog. It is a genius idea and the contents are really good. You get my vote and I will put a link to your blog in our website YouDanZ.com.
Greetings from France
You have my vote! Keep up the good work, for the boys!
As the mother of a son who dances I appreciate the perspective of men in the world of dance. Keep up the good work. You have my vote.
It is a great site to send new male dancers so they feel more comfortable and educated about ballet.
This is the best dance blog I’ve ever seen!
Congrats on the great shows!
Has been the most help for me in starting Ballet. Blogs have answered most of my questions!
Got started thanks to this blog, you’ve got my vote
You get my vote for you are the most helpful blog.
what an awesome blog!
Inspiring! Good to know men have the same passion for dance as I do.
This site is great not only for men, but for anyone who’s interested in ballet; and it’s great not only for first-time beginners, but for any who may have done it previously and are interested in starting up again and regaining what they’ve lost physically due to Ballet Neglect. I really admire all you’ve done, with this site and all your passions. I vote for you!!!
I teach a boys class at our school in Centralia, WA. One of the first things I tell my students and their families is to check out balletformen.com.
Ballet For Men is Awesome! Thanks for being there!
I think Dave’s Dance Blog “Ballet for Men” is a stroke of sheer genius. Crucial, critical insight on the world of dance today, David capture’s the essence, and presents it to us in new and fascinating ways. Brilliant.
Ballet for Men is such a great resource. I always recommend folks who are interested in dancing to it.
I sure hope voting closes at midnight tonight so that my vote counts! I wish “Ballet For Men” had existed when I started dancing.
This blog has been inspring for me as i look for more information to continue to learn ballet, and rediscover why it was that i took up this amazing art form. It’s great to have a dance blog dedicated to guys!
